What benefits should I expect after implementing an ERP System?

We can answer this question in one of two ways.  We can answer the question by performing a Return-on-Investment exercise.  If we do, we need to calculate what we spend and measure it against benefits received from the expenses (ROI = net benefits / costs).  An alternative is to lays in answering this question:  Can you expect to survive the future, if you do not:

  • Create a standard approach to addressing company operations
  • Measure the company’s performance in its daily operations and effect positive improvements
  • Focusing the company on addressing the issues of your customers

If you do, does it matter whether or not you know the return on that investment is?  The answer lies in understanding this fact:

Your competition will:

  • Create a standard approach to addressing company operations
  • Measure the company’s performance in its daily operations
  • Focusing the company on addressing the issues of your customers

Your competition will out-plan you!  Will you survive?  After you implement the proper ERP System, the outcome is a reduced risk of underperforming in the marketplace.

Another point, the return is not immediate!  It will take time for the company to recognize the benefits of proper planning and coordinating the control systems necessary to allow proper execution.

Don't miss understand what I am saying.  You need to put in a method to follow during the implementation and measure whether the project is staying on course and the more frequent you check, the fewer the surprises later.
